The project
A garden suspended in time .
Hortus is one of Aristaviva’s own works: a surreal editorial piece animating seven images within a contemporary hortus conclusus — an enclosed garden suspended at two in the afternoon. The camera does not move through the space; it contemplates it.
Each shot becomes a living painting, drawn from the visual logic of Magritte, De Chirico and Tim Walker. The challenge was to sustain an unreal stillness without it feeling cold — a garden that is at once precise and dreamlike, where time seems to have stopped at its most luminous hour.
